Deleting your account

Request deletion from the account deletion page. Requests complete within 30 days; some records are kept only where the law requires.

You can request deletion of your account and associated data from the account deletion page. You do not need to give a reason.

Requests are completed within 30 days. Some records may be retained beyond that only where the law requires it — tax and accounting records being the usual case — and nothing is kept for our own convenience.

Deletion is permanent. It is not the same as cancelling a plan: cancelling stops billing and leaves the account in place, while deletion removes it. If you only want to stop paying, cancel instead.

Export anything you want to keep before requesting deletion, because we cannot restore an account afterwards.

If you have a paid subscription, cancel it as well. Deleting an account is a data request; it is not by itself an instruction to stop a payment.

The deletion page and the privacy policy together are the authoritative description of the process, including your rights under GDPR and what to do if you are unhappy with how a request was handled.

If you only want to stop receiving email from us, that is a preference rather than a deletion — unsubscribing leaves your account intact.

Deletion requests are handled by a person. If you have a specific requirement, such as written confirmation for a compliance record, say so in the request and we will provide it.

Deleting your account also removes your saved tone preference and any stored history. None of that is recoverable afterwards, which is worth a moment's thought if the history is the record of a piece of work you may need later.
